Summary

When the doors of the lift crank open, the only thing Thomas remembers is his first name。 But he's not alone。 He's surrounded by boys who welcome him to the Glade - a walled encampment at the centre of a bizarre and terrible stone maze。 Like Thomas, the Gladers don't know why or how they came to be there - or what's happened to the world outside。

I love the way this was written。 It’s a great story for fans of dystopian books like the Hunger Games。 The boys in the story reminded me of the kids in The Lord of the Flies and each character was unique in their own way and played a role leading to the end of the story。 It can seem dry at certain points, but I’d only recommend this one for people who don’t mind not having dialogue on every page。

Great read。 I could not put this book down and flew threw it faster than I have flown threw a book in a while。 It's a great combination of thrill, adventure, romance, solid character development, and plot twists。 Looking forward to reading the second book。 Great read。 I could not put this book down and flew threw it faster than I have flown threw a book in a while。 It's a great combination of thrill, adventure, romance, solid character development, and plot twists。 Looking forward to reading the second book。 。。。more

I happened across this movie last week and was enraged at the missed Lost-esque TV-show potential。 This needed to be a story with lots of dialogue and at least a full season before Thomas even set foot in the maze。 Rage rage rage。 Somebody sedate me。 The book was fine。 I liked it mostly because I have thought about the concept of being stuck in a death trap maze almost constantly。 Does anyone know any other maze books?

Enjoyed that book think it is well written。 I like the differences between the movie and the book but also I have to agree to other comments who saiy that there are a lot of cliches in this book。 However, I finished this book in one day and really looking forward to the second part。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Chuck 😟😟😟😟 that ending was hard manAlso Teresa do be kinda annoying tho tbh。 I can’t wait to read the second one。。。 I’m sad I DNF’d if before。 I would’ve been a fan for like 4 years if I hadn’t。

Stellar book! I loved the movie when I watched it and I love the book。 I think they did a good job on the movie but obviously the book has more details。

ITS SO GOOD (not like the movies though which i like being a fan of them BUT regardless still amazing) i’d say it’s more 4。5 it’s only not a 5 because i feel like it was missing something which i don’t know what BUT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CAN’T WAIT TO READ THE REST OF THE SERIES!!!!

Love the first book。 The others are okay but the first book is the best。

No。

The plot kept me turning the pages, but the characters are one-dimensional and their reactions felt forced。

I have to be honest。 This entire series has been my absolute favorite since I was a little kid! I loved and still love the plot of this book and the movie is even cooler because it captures every scene so well。 I love the writing style as well (it’s definitely not a hard read)。 I recommend it for anyone trying to read a book with a lot of action, mystery, and suspense。 This is definitely that book that you can finish in one day。

This book was。。。ok。 I was looking for something for my son (12) to read after finishing LOTR and he can be a rather picky reader。 He seemed to enjoy this book and asked for the others。 He suggested I read it and I always try to read the books my kids recommend。 It wasn't really a genre that I would normally read and I did find myself skimming some pages。 Overall though, it wasn't awful and I did keep reading。 I am also not in a rush to read book 2, though I know I will give it a try。 This book was。。。ok。 I was looking for something for my son (12) to read after finishing LOTR and he can be a rather picky reader。 He seemed to enjoy this book and asked for the others。 He suggested I read it and I always try to read the books my kids recommend。 It wasn't really a genre that I would normally read and I did find myself skimming some pages。 Overall though, it wasn't awful and I did keep reading。 I am also not in a rush to read book 2, though I know I will give it a try。 。。。more

This was sure a book。 (TWSAB)I felt intrigued by this one because I’ve heard highly good things about the film。 I figured the book would be better based on the opinion that usually “the book is better”。 I haven’t seen the movie yet so my opinion means very little here, but the book felt a lot like Hunger Games meets Lord of the Flies。 I usually draw comparisons like that by nature (and because as a former bookseller, it’s fastest), but here it’s more negative because it felt like an inferior ver This was sure a book。 (TWSAB)I felt intrigued by this one because I’ve heard highly good things about the film。 I figured the book would be better based on the opinion that usually “the book is better”。 I haven’t seen the movie yet so my opinion means very little here, but the book felt a lot like Hunger Games meets Lord of the Flies。 I usually draw comparisons like that by nature (and because as a former bookseller, it’s fastest), but here it’s more negative because it felt like an inferior version of both those two books, combined or otherwise。 Thomas wakes up in a strange place, surrounded by boys saying words such as “klunk” and “shank” (at first a clever way to get around swearing in YA but then a little tiresome)。 Thomas doesn’t know who he is, how he got there, or any other information about his past except his name。 Apparently that’s just how things roll here, because it’s the same for every person except those who have gone through “the changing” (sadly not a metaphor for puberty)。 Those who have been through the changing have vague feelings of having seen Thomas before, but he doesn’t know them, and those people seem unable or unwilling to say what they saw while “experiencing” this change。 If the title didn’t give it away, Thomas and his fellow compatriots are in a maze; one that is filled with “greavers” (being stabbed by them brings about the non pubescent a changing)。 So far, a new boy has arrived every month and there are several boys that run the maze everyday looking for an exit。 Thomas appearing of course brings about changes and is somewhat of a mystery。。。until one day!!! (pause for dramatic effect), the creators of the maze blow it all open by sending a girl! What could these 16-yo boys who haven’t had anything but each other for company possibly do now? Something realistic? Nope! I didn’t not like it, I just felt the conclusion was seen coming (by me at least) a mile off (and one probably run while being following by klunking greavers)。 Maybe the movie is better? There’s no way to know。。。 。。。more

I am finally finished with the book :D!! Although one of my classmates spoiled who died while I was reading, the book was very nice! The book had amazing plot twists, great character development, and the character overall is very very extraordinary。 My favorites were Minho and Chuck, I love how they have flaws but they are still amazing characters。 Unlike Minho and Chuck, Thomas is almost too perfect。 He has a (kind of) girlfriend (aka Teresa who I do NOT ship with), he knows everything, he is g I am finally finished with the book :D!! I wished he had just not get magically revived。 One more thing that annoys me。 ((SPOILER WARNING))Thomas feels suddenly so much better once he goes to the homestead with the "saviors", he forgets about Chuck dying and misses Teresa even though she is still alive。 Honestly, what is wrong with you Thomas? Anyways, that's my thoughts about the Maze Runner。 Again, the character development is so good。 Have a nice day! 。。。more

To describe how this book made me feel is almost impossible, from the sadness at some deaths, to the excitement at major plot twists。。。 yet the friendship developments were one of the most touching things in this book。 All i could say is that the Maze Runner is my favorite movie of all time, yet the book was way better than the movie : so just imagine how impeccable this book is! It fits every age range, and will be a quite pleasant read! I strongly recommend this book。

I rated the book 4/5 stars。 I found the story to be interesting and it made sense。 My only complaint is the writing was a little repetitive at times。
